Location:  Games will be played at the KC MLB Urban Youth Academy (“UYA”)

  • 1622 E. 17th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64108 (google map)

Times:  All games are 1 hour and 45 minutes long.

Schedules:  The schedule will be posted the Wednesday before the event.

Facility Rules:  All of our state-of-the-art turf fields require strict adherence to the following rule:

NO GUM, NO SEEDS, NO METAL SPIKES.  Plastic molded cleats are acceptable and preferred.  We appreciate you policing this rule within your dugouts.

A few other rules:

  • No Coolers, or outside food or drink
  • No pets.
  • The UYA will provide all baseballs.
  • Batting Cages – each field has a batting cage down each line.  Teams may access these areas 45 minutes before their scheduled game time to warm up.  The UYA will have a Tee and Baseballs in each of these cages for use.  Please pick up all baseballs once your team has completed your warm-up.
  • Home team must occupy the first base dugout.
  • Home team determined by coin toss in pool play.
  • Home team is the higher seed in bracket play.
  • All coaching personnel are required to remain in the dugout during live ball play, except for 1st and 3rd base coaches.

Playing Rules:  We will be playing under the NHSF Playing Rules with the exception of the rules listed in the Download Section

  • We are tracking pitching per USSSA guidelines (3-6-8 rule) – if you aren’t familiar with these guidelines, please review the attached document.

Seating:  The Urban Youth Academy Fields have PLENTY of seating available for spectators, so we encourage parents to leave their folding chairs in the car.  While not prohibited, we encourage you to do so to make the walk in from the designated parking areas easier!

Parking:  The Urban Youth Academy shares a parking lot with the other businesses in the 18th and Vine District.  You can access this lot from Paseo Blvd or 18th Street.  While this lot is first-come, first-served, there are some areas that we reserve for other businesses in the district – PLEASE respect those areas where you see “No Event Parking” signs

Gate Fees:  The Urban Youth Academy will NOT charge Gate Fees at this event.

Concessions:  The Urban Youth Academy will have concessions available during the event.

Rainout Policy:

  • 0 games played, full refund minus a $50 administrative fee
  • 1 game played, 50% refund
  • 2 games played, 25% refund

Rosters:  We will not be checking rosters this weekend but ask that managers act in good faith to ensure that players are competing at their appropriate age levels.

Negro Leagues Baseball Museum:  We strongly recommend that your players and families take advantage of your time in the 18th and Vine District and visit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum this weekend.  The museum is located at 1616 E. 18th Street (across the parking lot from the UYA).  They are open on Saturday from 9:00am-6:00pm and Sunday from 12:00pm-6:00pm.
